Pickersleigh Summer FunDuring the month of August the Borrowers Toy Library ran 11 days of fun and frolics for the young people of the Pickersleigh Estate aged 9-13. Through partnership funding from Malvern Extended Services Programme, Community Safety Partnership and Festival Housing we were able to offer fun packed days of: Mask making, circus skills, junk fashion shows, cartoon drawing, D.J mixing and Breakdancing to name but a few.
The grand finale of the summer was the Pickersleighs Got Talent Show where the young people put on eleven different acts to a packed audience of around 60 people. This included Parents, professionals and local residence including some from the local sheltered accommodation. Summer Fun saw 37 different young people attend and a total of 264 places were offered over the eleven days most children wanted to attended every session but this was over subscribed so the places had to be shared. Both young people and parents filled in comments sheets with the following outcomes: Young PeopleMost Liked activity DJ mixing, Fashion Show and Talent show Have you tried Something New? 100% put more than one thing Would you like Summer Fun again 100% said yes ParentsWhat would your children of been doing If they had not come to Summer Fun? 100% Watching T.V What did the parents think? Value for money Educational So much for them to do One parent commented it has been so much fun for my children it has made the summer holidays so much more enjoyable and easier on the pocket One of the sheltered accommodation residence said: we have had a lovely afternoon we dont get out much and it was lovely to see the children doing something really worth while and their homemade cakes were lovely |
